Save Our School!
Members of the Conde community will be attending the 2008 South Dakota Legislative Session on January 23, 2008 to show our support of HB1158.
HB1158 is an exemption to SB158 forcing all schools in the state of South Dakota under attendance of 100 to have a re-organizational plan in place by 2009. The exemption that is stated in the HB1158 is any school that receives less that $20,000 in state aid/year should be exempt from SB158 regardless of attendance. Conde being a school that receives less than $20,000 in state aid/year. Because of a re-organizational incentive given by the State of South Dakota to any school that the Conde School District may attach to, the State of South Dakota may send in upward of millions of dollars in the next two to three years to send our 46 students to other schools.
Since, SB158 was passed in the 2007 South Dakota Legislative Session many in the Conde community have been in a S.O.S. mode. Many individuals in the Conde community have been rallying to keep our school open. Many feel that regardless of the number of students attending the Conde School District, our children are still getting the utmost of an GREAT education. Conde students are not getting dealt a lower hand in education, they are actually preforming above state and national levels. Honestly, what more could we ask for.
